Figure and Dancers (2023)
Acrylic on Canvas
39" x 39" / 100cm x 100cm
Here are three very different figures - a female dancer, a priest, and a dancing monster. Each has a different character. The female dancer has a human face but her naked, armless body resembles that of a figurine. A large hand is drawing her in towards the monster's cavernous mouth. The priest is solemn-faced and solemnly dressed. He acts as the circus master, his two hands advertising the spectacle of the monster.
The monster diffuses and palpitates, its pink flesh almost transparent and wobbling like a jellyfish. In order to combine they need to be different, like an incongruous circus act of individually striking but incompatible performers.
Please be advised, a tray frame would add about an inch to the size of the canvas.
Screen colours can vary among computers, so please know that there may be a slight variation in real life. Every effort has been made to represent the artwork most accurately to the original painting.
