The background figures seem to link to the foreground figures in some way. Perhaps the background figures (scientists, masters, parents) have generated the foreground figures (clones, slaves, children)? The background figures look much older and more controlling, so is this a case of a futuristic medical intervention that makes people more youthful? Why is there such a hurry - there seems to be a lot of movement - disguised as the front figures race away from the viewer - is scientifically rejuvenating clinical intervention working too quickly?
Please be advised, a tray frame would add about an inch to the size of the canvas.
