What is the influence happening between the three figures? The two self portraits could themselves be statues, as they have a marble-like sheen. Or perhaps the statue is casting a spell on the artist and he is becoming drawn into the world of stone through the attraction of becoming immortal, or through the narcissistic wish to be looked at. In another important way also, the self portraits are becoming more like statues, because they both are fragments, like the Greek statue without arms.
However, none of the figures looks at another of the figures: they each look out past the viewer, enclosed in their own thoughts. Even the two self portraits do not communicate with each other. Instead they competitively jostle - each self portrait takes body space from the other self portrait, so that doubling does not add to the impact on the viewer, but instead diminishes it.
Please be advised, a tray frame would add about an inch to the size of the canvas.
